    Another Journal
    In case you are wondering why I'm not updating here - the reason is that I can't access Live Journal from my office. I've started using Blogspot instead, and you can see my journal at http://chaucey.blogspot.com.

    one month and seven days to go!
    Not long eh? One month and 7 days...

    Took my green dress in to the alteration shop today to get it hemmed.

    I bought some shoes for the honeymoon. Really comfy ones, for $40 a pair (got two different styles) and smart looking too. I'm just gutted I wasted $180 on two pairs of hush puppies that didn't stand up to Sydney travel and so don't have a hope of being comfy enough for Europe.

    I want to buy a cardigan for the honeymoon too, but I haven't seen one I like. I managed a fortnight ago to find some v.lightweight wet weather pants and coat for Dartmoor.

    I spoke to mum about my veil yesterday. We'd talked about making the veil together earlier on - but the plan now is for me to just go and buy one (or buy one and sew on the comb). I'll try and go this weekend seeing as Michael is at the LNI National Party conference.

    I hate my computer
    My computer is being very annoying today.
    It's really gotten to the end of its useful life and is getting on my nerves now.

    It appears to be riddled with errors. Latest ones today are an issue that makes installshield not work to install any programs, and also rightclicking on a link in internet explorer and selecting open in new window has stopped working - argh!

    I have some lovely Nancy Drew games that I'd love to play but they won't install.

    Of course, this is on top of the problem where the computer doesn't properly realise that is has been restarted or shut down correctly - and instead starts scandisk every time! The patch used to work and now it has no effect.

    Of course there are other problems too. The cd drive won't do the the Mt Ranier style writing it is supposed to do.

    The printer has stopped working - it makes these awful grinding noises and stops, and I've been through the diagnostics.

    Do you think it's time I called it quits? The machine is about 5 years old...

    not long to go
    Only 1 month and 10 days till our wedding - wahoo! Looking forward to it now.

    I've got a cold and so I've stayed at home pretty much all weekend. I slept on and off from 8pm Saturday till about 4pm sunday and I think I've made some progress on getting better. i'm just VERY thankful that I'm not sick closer to the wedding.

    We went to Sydney last weekend. It was neat to see the harbour bridge and the opera house for myself. It reminded me a lot of Auckland actually. Michael has written about the trip over at his blog www.ellisnz.com.

    Yesterday morning we went shopping with the cd store and freedom furniture vouchers we got for our engagement party - we realised that if we put it off any longer then they'd expire while we were on honeymoon. So we bought some nice stuff - a really think caramel coloured bath mat, a soap dispenser (white with brown squares on it), a toilet brush & holder(cocoa colour), an onion chopper, a candle and some incense. Yay! we got 2 dvd's - Spirited away and The neverending story. It was lots of fun to buy stuff without spending money!

    what I've been up to
    Perhaps if I stick to bullet points then I can quickly update for a whole month...

    *Irish Society ball last night. It was fun and I got to wear my green ball dress that showed off my cleavage.
    *10km round the vines walk this morning. www.roundthevines.co.nz. I was tired after completly this - had to have a big nap this arvo.
    *Lots of wedding planning - including getting the marriage license, booking a car, receiving my hoop petticoat, bridemaids getting dresses, groomsmen and groom suits sussed, florist appts, sending out invitations, managing rsvp's, choosing menus...blah blah blah! It has been kepeing me busy.
    *next weekend, away to sydney. A chance to relax b4 the wedding.
    *work - I've been buckling down a wee bit and getting through some work. It has helped that I've been doing my co-workers job, which is slightly more regimented than mine. I'll be looking for a different role when I return from my honeymoon.
    *Young nats - stood down from my position as treasurer at the AGM last week. Hope they go well this year.
    *Hutt south nats - had to go to lots of meetings to vote for a National party cnadidate for my local electorate. Michael is helping out on their campaign.
    *New hobbies - been reading nancy drew books and have 2 of the computer games (excellent games - why haven't they been released in NZ?). pre-wedding diet. Trying to fit church into my schedule. Been playing lots of boardgames lately. Reading David Farrars blog. Entering the M and M's competition. Reading about 10 different books at once and with lots on my waiting list. Looking at birds out the train window, inspired from "how to be a bad birdwatcher". Movies - seen The aviator, and seen dvd of "Donnie Darko". Enjoyed both.
    *Spending a bit of time with my girlfriends, which makes a nice change. Penny and Rachel R in particular.

    St Valentines day went well, as did St Patricks day. Michaels birthday was good - but I wasn't allowed to make a fuss over him.
    Haven't done any letterboxing or caching lately, but hopefully I can do some caching in sydney.

    Thats all I can think of so bye for now!

    busy bumble bees
    Hi,
    I'm still really busy. Finally hid the letterbox today that I've had for about four or five months. The lady in America who sent it to me will be relieved that I've finally done it.

    I've also made more wedding planning progress. Makeup artist booked. Bridesmaid dresses picked. Got food details from our two venues. I was hoping to get the invitations done this weekend, but I think I'll have to do them midweek or something.

    I have to go to a pile of meetings for the National Party at the moment. I have to help pick who our local candidate will be, so they are all wanting to meet us and pop over to chat.

    Somehow I've fitted in quite a bit of reading - I guess it must be on the train and stuff. I've recently read 6 out of the 7 books in the Tommorrow when the War Began series. I recommend the books. They certainly make you wonder a little harder about defence.
    I've also read 2 Nancy Drew books and they have brought back fond memories of how much I enjoyed reading them as a child. I also have a book about Latin and about Orienteering to get through. After that I'll start on all the books Michael got for Christmas (some Garth Nix stuff).

    Well, chat again soon!

    A silly song I know
    This is a song I learnt at school. I'm not sure of its origins and a google search failed to turn up any information.

    It makes most people I sing it to laugh out loud.
    ~~~
    The silly Mozart song. To the tune of one of his works - Eine kleine Nachtmusik.
    Wolfgang died, two hundred years ago
    Wolfgang, who? C'mon I thought you'd know
    Wolfgang amadeus mozart
    Amadeus mozart
    Artiste extroadinaire
    He was a child prodigy
    whose main activity
    Was making music for a fee
    He wrote minuettes, serenades, symphonies, concertos and much, much more!
    Though he often found that poverty was knocking at his door
    And further more ,
    he was so poor,
    that he died a paupers death,
    It was a tradgedy,
    Nobady came to see,
    When he was finally laid to rest
    six feet below!
    Halfway through his requiem,
    he snuffed in mid te-di-um
    cut off in his prime
    at thirty-five
    If only, he could have, survived
    But he lives all around us,
    In ads for Audi quartro
    And far too many concerts
    Where people in fur coats go
    They even made a play,
    Sold out on broadway,
    Containing scandel, sex and poisoning, oh what would mozart say?
    He'd write an opera about it starring Pavarotti and Te Kanawa!
    Wolfgang amadeus…
    Gained a goodly reputation..
    Mozart.. really knew the art of putting notes on paper,
    But..he…died!
    Will speculation never cease on how he died? Died! Died!
    rest in peace.
    Back
    It's wonderful to be back in Wellington. Finally I can get on with stuff here.
    I've been able to spend some time doing wedding planning. More about that will follow shortly in my wedding journal at paradise.net.
    I've also been enjoying stuff like orienteering - 3 times this week in fact!
    I joined the Lower Hutt library, the first books I took out were one on learning latin, one on orienteering, and a cd of wedding music.
    Lately I have been on a bit of a spending spree. I've been buying lots of books, summer clothes (which I hope to use on my honeymoon), a pair of new balance trail running shoes.... For some reason I've rediscovered some of my favourite childhood books - Nancy Drew mysteries.
    I'd like to go and see a few movies which are playing at the moment - but I haven't been able to convince Michael yet.
    Have done heaps!
    Gosh,I've been pretty busy lately.
    Was in Auckland again last week, and managed to do lots of caching, letterboxing and walking heaps! I even took lots of ferry rides -which were lots of fun.
    I spent Monday (wgtn anniversary day) visiting Rangitoto, a volcanic island near Auckland Harbour. Found a box, and TRIED to find some caches.
    Tuesday was a fun night at the mexican cafe with my work mates.
    Wednesday evening after work I was off out to Birkenhead and found two letterboxes, both with gorgeous stamps.
    Thursday night I met up with Rebbecca and Derek, two fellow letterboxes from Auckland. It was lovely to meet them, it was really easy to chat with them and I think they are great.
    Friday we flew to wellington, I met up with Michael briefly (I miss him!) and then I was off on the plane again to Christchurch.
    Saturday I spent the day with my friends Liz and Stephen. We went caching out to Quail Island (another ferry ride) and then in the evening off to dinner for a cache event at the Dux de Lux.
    Sunday has so far been spent hanging out with my father. We've been to the Arts Centre and the Botanical gardens.
    I'm really looking forward to seeing Michael tommorrow! Have to also meet up with Cassy briefly (fabric discussions!) and with Andy Sole to collect the invitation to his engagement party. Have a bit of work on too! Will do bucket loads of laundry and re-packing in the evening all ready for flying to Auckland AGAIN on Tuesday morning.
    [whew!] It's exhausting just thinking about it!
    First 2 days back up in Auckland
    Flights were non-eventful.
    Somehow I managed to make it throught he workdays. Gosh - I'd rally like to take on LESS responsibility at work. It's hard to care about work when you don't think that what you're doing is making a difference.
    I guess working in Auckland was better than the 2 days of ref-info workshopping I'd done just previously.
    After work I taxied to the hotel (The Quest this time). Got changed and got sorted to go out caching, yay! Headed over to Albert Park to find Albert Blimp Cache. Managed to find it although I think a girl in a pink top there may have thought I had mental problems from the way I was acting.
    I then decided that there was heaps more sunlight left and I grabbed some BK and headed over to Station Pointer cache for a reconnassaince. The Station Pointer cache doesn't tell you the co-ordiantes, you've got to figure them out by searching around the park there to find some locations, recording the coordinates and then plotting themon grid paper and figuring out a point where all these prticular angles meet up. It was fun! I walked over to the park (the long way - oops) and found two out of three locations. Headed back to the hotel and finally got there after dark. Excluding the walk to Albert park, I ended up walking around 6kms! I treated myself to room service dessert after that mission.
    I have my plans for monday all sussed. I'm going up to Auckland in the morning. I'll take the ferry across to Rangitoto Island and hopefully find the letterbox and the two geocaches hidden there. If I've got time then I'll try to get out on the ferry to Birkenhead too for a letterbox, and a geocache/letterbox hybrid.
    Hmmm - I turned out to act 3 years older than I am.
    You Are 29 Years Old
    29
    Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.
    13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.
    20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.
    30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
    40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.
    more Auckland
    I'm heading back up to Auckland again. This time it'll be for 2.5 weeks.
    I've planned it so I can spend Wellington Anniversary day up in Auckland for a holiday. I'm going to take a harbour cruise over to Rangitoto island - yay! I get to go Letterboxing there as well.
    Being away from home does make the wedding planning trickier though. I've got a three page to-do list that won't be getting any smaller while I'm away. At least I've got wonderful bridesmaids who are great at getting there stuff sorted without me there to hold their hands.
    I'll miss Michael too of course. And Seska and "our" other puss Scorch (he doesn't belong to anyone really - but we feed him and hug him).
    As well as letterboxing and geocaching in Auckland I am also planning on going to ceroc. I won a ten trip to Ceroc Auckland - so I'm going to try and get some value out of it. I suppose if I can't use it all up then I could give it to Iain and Sharme.
    9:19 pm
    blockage
    I haven't been able to record journal entries very often because my work has blocked the live journal website :-(
    So, I'll have to try and fit it in occasionally at home.
    9:05 pm
    loserness?
    Michael did these tests and so I thought I'd do them too:
    I am 11% loser. What about you? Click here to find out!
    I am nerdier than 14% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!
    So I'm nerdier but cooler than Michael??? Hmm - I think the logic may be flawed.
    getting tired of Auckland
    Still up here in the big smoke.
    There is talk of having to come up next week too...
    Hmm, work/life balance seems out the window. I guess if I hadn't been feeling guilty about not doing much work during the year, then I wouldn't feel so pressured to perform well on this project.
    I went out to ceroc last night in Lorne Street. It was fun but the studio was very hot and humid. Seemed to be a couple of guys that were nice to dance with, so I wouldn't mind going back some other time. The level of dancing in the intermediate class seemed quite good, definately not like the easy intermediate class in wgtn.
    I'm getting tired of being away from home. I like home!!! And I miss Michael...
    My legs are tired. I haven't been able to go to the gym here yet this week because my legs are still aching from my big walk up Mt Kaukau on Sunday.
    So I slept very well last night, even though I am away from home.
    Andreas Baby shower
    I had a great time at Andreas baby shower today. I think it was probably the nicest baby shower I've ever been to.
    There were some excellent games, a nappy changing contest (using a baby doll), a blindfolded baby food guessing game....
    Lovely food too, and a nice home. The lady organising it was really lovely too.
    Andreas baby is due in early February. It's pretty exciting. I have to say that it made me a bit clucky...
    Spent a whole week in Auckland
    Phew - the first week up here in Auckland is almost over.
    It's been busy doing all this work. I've managed to accumulate 8 hours overtime, which is enough for a whole other day. (and a boring day at that!)
    We're all getting a bit tired. My co-worker just attempted to put a Berrocca tablet on his tongue instead of putting it in water .
    Went to the Movie last night and saw "National Treasure". Very fun movie - lots of adventure, clues, historical characters, a touch of romance and humour... I enjoyed it. It even seemed to tie in in a way to the book I'm reading right now, "The Da Vinci Code".
    Current Mood: tired
    After first night in Auckland
    Yesterday the day started off fine with Michel dropping me off to the Wellington Airport. Had a quick kiss and hug and ventured into the airport.
    Stuffed around until I ran into Brent. We had some breakfast and then went and boarded the plane. I met one of my project buddies, Madhu. The flight was pretty uneventful, the highlights were the whittakers chocolate pieces in the coffee cups, the lowlight was having to tell the chap next to me to turn off his cellphone while we were descending.
    Arrived at 79 Carlton Gore Road, and was spoilt with a nice swipe card dongle (I will be keeping it for sure!!) and a whole bunch of stationery etc...
    Not much actual work until 2:30pm when our first meeting with all the mgrs was.
    After work we checked in at Citylife and freshened up before heading out to tea. We found a lovely place called Mecca down at the Viaduct. I had the Eye Fillet steak. Yumm! It had lots of little roasted potatoes, green beans, and some tomatoey stuff with dashes of balsamic vinegar. It was very nice. Also managed to drink about 3 glasses of wine.
    I finished off the evening hanging out in the citylife bar with my new work buddy Madhu. We chatted over a glass of port each.
    Sleep was pretty easy after all those beverages! Felt slightly grotty in the morning, but not too bad.
    Looking forward to heading home tonight though.
